How do I get rid of bags under my eyes?

Hello gorgeous

It’s almost that time of year again. The festive season beckons. The stores are full of temptations – Panettone, tins of Quality Street, enormous rounds of Brie. And don’t even get me started on all those lovely bottles of fizz…

Extra socialising and likely over indulgence (come on, be honest) over Christmas and New Year can take a bit of a toll.

It’s widely accepted that bags under the eyes are caused by one or more of the following: lack of sleep, lack of exercise, an excess of salty food, fluid retention, and genetics. Yup, it’s true; if your parents had them, it’s likely that you’ll have them too.

It’s also an age thing. (Sorry.) As we get older, our skin starts to sag as the tissue and muscles grow weaker. This can result in fat seeping from the area directly around the eye (the orbit) into the area below.

Sinus infections aren’t great either, as they repeatedly cause the skin under the eyes to stretch with pressure.

So what can you do?

A Rejoova Pro anti-aging system could be a really useful tool in your fight against bags under the eyes. Unlike some beauty devices, it’s small enough and gentle enough to use around your delicate eye area.

Specifically, your Rejoova Pro uses:

  • Ultrasound – which can help to repair and renew muscle fibres, improve muscle tone and elasticity
  • Micro-current massage – impulse micro currents can lift sagging muscles and also increase ATP production. This is important because ATP (Adenosine triphosphate) is a molecule which carries energy to cells throughout the body. Higher levels of ATP mean increased cell energy and an increased ability to heal.
  • LED therapy – blue light can help to diminish inflammation, green light may reduce discolouration by breaking down melanin clusters, and red light is known to increase collagen which should then assist with skin elasticity. (Please remember, if you’re using one of your Rejoova’s 3 LED therapies, please be sure to wear your protective goggles.)

Plus, regular use of your Rejoova Pro should boost your facial circulation, thus helping to prevent excess fluid retention.

If you don’t have a Rejoova, here are FIVE other natural remedies you could try.

One of the simpler ideas may be to use an extra pillow, as this increases the tilt of your head while you’re sleeping, and potentially reduces fluid retention.

Tapping the bags with your fingers for a few minutes may gently nudge the fluid away.

A cold compress on your eyes could reduce swelling. You can either purchase a reusable one from the pharmacy, or DIY it with a re-sealable bag filled with ice cubes, wrapped in a soft towel. If you’re really pushed, then a bag of frozen peas could do the trick.

Ditch the ciggies, and stay out of smokers’ areas. It’s just not cool, darling. Amongst the many health problems linked to smoking, it dehydrates the skin, causes premature aging effects and impedes circulation. Yuck.

Try to reduce your salt intake and alcohol consumption. Yes, I know that this can be challenging during the Holidays! Do your best to make wise choices, and aim to drink one glass of water for every glass of alcohol in order to keep up your hydration level.

Wishing you a beautiful Christmas,

Vicky x
